Construction and industrial accidents can involve serious personal injuries, and even death. The heavy equipment at construction sites and in industrial workplaces can carry increased risks for injuries ranging from electrical hazards to severe trauma. A recent freak workplace accident Tuesday at a Camden auto and tire repair shop left a worker dead.
The fatal Camden, New Jersey, industrial accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities believe the freak accident happened while the worker was trying to cut a chain with a high-powered grinding machine. Investigators say that it appears the grinding wheel came loose at some point and detached from the machine. The torque involved apparently caused the wheel to hurtle at the worker striking him in the chest.
The worker was rushed to Cooper University Hospital, where doctors pronounced the industrial accident victim dead.
People who have ties to the tire and repair shop flooded in despair to the location after the fatal workplace accident. Authorities have not offered much information about the worker; however, WPVI Action News reports the man was a 33-year-old father of three. One person at the shop after the accident told reporters the New Jersey industrial accident victim “just a hard-working guy trying to provide for his family in a city where too many young men are involved in guns and drugs –and he had to die like this.”
The tragic New Jersey industrial accident is remains under investigation. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration reportedly has opened an investigation of the fatal accident, according to https://kashlegal.com/
